StarkFresh Seed Library - Free vegetable & flower seedsRodman Library is once again partnering with StarkFresh to bring a “Seed Library” to our community. Beginning on Monday, March 2, vegetable and flower seeds will be displayed in the Library’s wooden card catalog located in the Library’s front lobby. Patrons may browse through the catalog and take the free seed packets of items they are interested in growing.

Coupons for Troops (Troopons)

The Friends of Rodman Library is starting, in February, a collection of coupons for Support Our Troops® Troopons® to send to our military. This program enhances the well-being of overseas and domestic military families by sending them food, non-food, baby and pet manufacturer coupons to make their dollars go further. Most coupons will go over overseas to military bases while some will remain in the United States.

One Book One Community 2020

Orphan Train by Christina Baker KlineArea readers are invited to board 2020’s One Book One Community offering. Orphan Train, a novel by Christina Baker Kline, has been selected as the latest in a distinguished series that connects readers of all ages.

Kline's appearance on March 26 at Union Avenue United Methodist Church and visit to area schools on March 27 have been postponed until the fall. Details will follow at a later date.

Christmas Programs at RPL

ANIME CHRISTMAS FOR TEENS AT RPL

Teens are invited to join us for a fun afternoon in the Main Auditorium on Thursday, December 19, from 3 to 5 p.m., for Rodman Library’s “Anime Christmas” program. We’ll be crafting Anime-themed ornaments, perler beads, food-themed crafts and playing Pin the Santa Hat on a famous Anime hero, plus more! Teens can also form teams and compete on an Anime obstacle course. Christmas movie clips of favorite Anime will be showing during the festivities. No registration is needed. You just need to be 12 to 18 years of age.

Climbing a Mountain to Cure a Disease

Jeff Hunter climbing DenaliJeff Hunter of Sunnyvale, California, and son of Alliance native Robert Hunter, Jr., will be giving a presentation at Rodman Library on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m., in the auditorium. Earlier this year, Hunter climbed Mount Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, in memory of his father who died in May 2017. Robert Hunter, Jr., was an attorney in Alliance for many years and assistant law director for 16 years.

Christmas Crafts for All Ages

Adults can join us for fun creative crafting on Wednesday, December 4, at 5 p.m., or Thursday, December 5, at 10 a.m., in Rodman Main Auditorium. We will be creating a gnome, ornament and holiday gift tags. Attendees may make all items. Supplies will be furnished. Registration is needed as each program is limited to 30 adults. Signup is now open. This event is free and sponsored by the Friends of Rodman Library. Snacks will be offered and Christmas music will be playing during the event. This program is open to ages 18 and over.
