Ongoing Programs

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.


Evening Book Discussion Group - Meets the 1st Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Conference Room.

Spinning Circle - Meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. in the Main Library front window reading area in February. Beginning March 1, the location will be the Branch Library. Bring your fibers and wheel or spindle.

"KnitWits" Knitting Circle - Meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Main Auditorium. Knitters and other needle workers are invited.

Writers' Alliance - Meets the 2nd Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Main Conference Room. Bring a few pages of a work in progress.

Caregiver Support Group - Meets the last Thursday of the month (except November and December, meets the 3rd Thursday) from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the Main Children’s Program Room. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of adults experiencing challenges such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Caregivers share and offer information. Sessions are led by trained volunteers from the Canton Area Office of the Alzheimer's Association. For more information call 1-800-272-3900.


Wee Read, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m., and Wednesday mornings at the Main and Branch Libraries from 10:30-11:00  a.m. Wee Read introduces children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills.

Storytime, ages 3-5 - Meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:15 p.m., and Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the Main or Branch libraries through June 2. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities. Patrons may attend at the Branch Library after June 2; storytime will return to the Main Library beginning on August 30. Main Library patrons can attend the Book F.E.A.S.T. from June 9 through July 28.

Lego Splash, children of all ages - This program will restart on Saturday, September 10. We provide the Lego and Duplo bricks.

Boys’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 2nd Wednesday at the Main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Girls’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 3rd Wednesday at the main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Both book clubs meet in the Main Children’s Program Room for a book discussion, games and other activities. To register, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Tales for Tails - Meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays during June and July 2:00-4:00 p.m., in the Main Children’s Program Room. There will be no meetings in August and the dogs will return Saturday, September 17. Children try their reading skills on local therapy dogs that will "listen" to stories. Dogs in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Sign up in advance. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.


Movie Premiere for Teens - ages 13-18 - Meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Teens are invited to see a free movie on RPL’s big screen in the Main Auditorium.

Teen Video Gaming Days, ages 13-18 - Meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m., in the Main Auditorium. Play games on the Xbox One and 360, PS3 &4, and Nintendo Wii & WiiU. Rated “E” for Everyone; “T” for Teens. The program is in partnership with Synergy Alliance.

Gaming Un-Plugged for Teens, ages 12-18 - Meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Teens can enjoy an afternoon of vintage gaming in the Main Auditorium.

Anime Club for Teens, ages 13-18 – Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5:30 p.m., in the Main Auditorium. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL’s big screen.
