Teacher Services

Classroom collections:

Classroom collections are extended loans of materials teachers select to use in the classroom. The service is available in the Children's Department of the Main Library, Branch, or on the Bookmobile.

The purpose:

Classroom collections allow a teacher to keep library materials together in the classroom for the duration of a particular study unit. Up to 150 items may be borrowed for classroom use. We regret that materials for personal use or DVDs are not eligible for the extended loan period. Teachers also may not check out Playaway Views on a teacher's card.

How it works:

When you have selected the materials you wish to borrow as a classroom collection, please let the Staff know as you present them for check-out. The loan period for classroom collections is 8 weeks with no renewals.

The staff is willing to select materials for you if you give them at least one week's notice. We will use our professional expertise to make the selections or you may give us a bibliography. For your convenience, you may select your materials from our online catalog and then e-mail the list to the Children's Department or submit your request using our online form.

The staff will select materials based on your criteria and prepare them for you to pick up at your convenience.

Near the end of the loan period, you will receive a courtesy reminder of the items you have checked out. The due dates will be included on this notice. To receive a courtesy/reminder notice, please update your email address with library staff.
