Alliance Garden Club to Host 'Safe Gardening for Seniors'

While gardening isn’t usually considered a dangerous activity, with all that goes into working the soil and cultivating those plants, injuries can occur, especially for older gardeners.

The Alliance Garden Club wants to help area residents avoid those aches and pains this growing season and will host “Safe Gardening for Seniors” with Marc Young, an ACE-certified personal trainer with 25 years of experience, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 inside Rodman Auditorium.

During the program, which will follow the Alliance Garden Club’s annual meeting, Young will provide a number of tips on how to properly perform a variety of gardening-related activities, such as lifting heavy materials, that should help gardeners stay away from injuries. He will also offer other healthy pointers, such as how to avoid heatstroke.

The program is open to the public and patrons car register to attend.
