Larger Than Life-Size Gaming
Be the live game piece that plays on a giant game board. Come to the Main Auditorium on Thursday, August 23, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., and play on a larger-than-life scale of favorite classic games — MONOPOLY... JENGA... SCRABBLE... BATTLESHIP... PAC-MAN will be offered. Those participants who wish to play Battleship should be prepared to get WET! Prizes will be awarded. For teens, ages 12-18 — no registration is needed. Minecraft Monday 08/06:
Minecraft on the iPad will be offered for teens, ages 12-18, in the Computer Lab. The program will repeat the first Monday of each month. Teens will be given a task to complete at the beginning of each program. Once the task is complete there will be the opportunity for some free play. The Minecraft Pocket Edition for iPads will be used for this program. iPads will be available for use. The program is limited to 8 participants. Registration is needed. Teen Writing Club 07/11 & 07/25:
A Teen Writing Club, for ages 12-18, is meeting for the summer on every other Wednesday at Rodman Library. The meeting dates for July are Wednesdays, July 11 & 25, from 3 to 4 p.m., and will continue until the end of August. The purpose of this group is to give teens a place to meet with fellow writers to work on writing exercises, to share about what they are writing (and reading), and to hone their writing skills. Any teen who is interested in writing can join, whether they have written a lot or are just getting started. There will be opportunities to share work with the group, but sharing is not a requirement to come. No registration is needed. For more information, call the Main Library at 330-821-2665, ext. 213.
Teen Movie Night 08/08:
All teens, ages 13-18, are invited to see Ready Player One, a free movie on RPL’s big screen in the auditorium on Wednesday, August 8, at 5:30 p.m. A creator of a virtual reality world dies and leaves behind a video challenging his players to a three-part treasure hunt–to find his Easter egg that will guarantee the finder a fortune and total control of his virtual world. Teen Gaming Day 08/09, 8/16, 8/30:
On Thursdays, from 3-5pm., are teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Wii & Wii U, Nintendo Switch. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from "E" for Everyone, up to "T" for Teen level, will be offered. Along with video games, iPads are available to the teens. No registration is required for these free events. For more information call the library at (330)821-2665, Ext. 214. Teen Advisory 08/20:
Teens, ages 12-18– We Want You! Help us decide what kind of programs we will have for our teen patrons. Those teens interested in having their voices heard, come to Rodman Library’s Conference Room. The Teen Advisory meets each month to help decide teen programming at the Library. The next meeting is Monday, August 20, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.This is a great opportunity for teens looking to do community service. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 214.
Gaming Unplugged 08/21:
Teens, ages 12-18, gather your friends and come to the main library on Tuesday, August 21, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Choose your favorite board games... or card games on hand at the library. Be adventurous. Try something new. Bring your own magic and duel it out with your friends. No registration is needed.
Anime Club 08/28:
All teens, ages 13-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library on Tuesday, August 28th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL's big screen.
