Celebrate National Library Week with RPL

Rodman Public Library invites patrons to “Find Your Joy” during National Library Week (April 19-25).

National Library Week

Celebrated since 1958, National Library Week was established to celebrate the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening their communities.

However, at Rodman Public Library, we like to celebrate our patrons during the week as well. To that effect, every patron that visits a circulation desk and applies for a new card or uses their valid card to check out any type of material is eligible to register to win a gift card to a local business. One prize will be given to a child (age 12 and under) and one will be awarded to an adult (age 13 and older).

And while you’re at one of our locations, we hope you find your joy --  cozying up with a new story, learning a new skill, gathering with community, or something else.

Whether you're a longtime patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. Of course, we have traditional materials like books and magazines, but we also offer audiobooks, movie DVDs, music CDs, and video games.

Our library also provides a number of programs for area residents of all ages, ensuring that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.

Whatever brings you joy, the library has something for everyone. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or embracing retirement, Rodman Public Library is here to support your journey. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities.

Special days during National Library Week include Right to Read Day on Monday, April 20, a day for readers, advocates, and library lovers to take action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read.

Tuesday, April 21 is National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.

Wednesday, April 22 is National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.

Thursday, April 23 is Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
