Fall Fun for Kids at RPL

There's lots of fun for kids planned at RPL this fall.

WEEKLY PROGRAMS

Rodman Public Library’s most popular programs for its littlest patrons return to Rodman Public Library in September, including Wee Read and Storytime.

No registration is required for these weekly programs held at the Main Library.

 

Wee Read

Fall Wee Read will run between September 15 and November 12, offered on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Children, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music.

 

Storytime

Children, ages 3-5, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend Storytime sessions, which will be held between September 17 and November 13 this fall. Evening Storytime sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Morning sessions will be on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Storytime sessions are intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities. 

 

MONTHLY PROGRAMS

The following monthly programs are free, but require registration on our online calendar.

Kids Book Club

Rodman Public Library’s Kids Book Club meets at 4:15 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

Meetings include a brief discussion of the selected book, a fun activity, and a snack.

Selections for this fall include:

  • September 17  — Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer Holm
  • October 15 —  Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi
  • November 19 — The Pumpkin War by Cathleen Young

Books are available for extended checkout in the children's department.

Kids Crafting

Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting programs are held on the second Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. when children, ages 7 to 12, are invited to the Main Library to create a new project All materials and supplies are provided for free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. 

Projects this fall include:

September 11: Create a felt weaved basket.  

October 9: Create a monster lamp.

November 13: Create beaded corn

 

Lego Lab

Lego Lab returns to Rodman Public Library in September with a special Minecraft Lego Challenge.

Children, ages 6-12, are invited to the Main Library at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23 to build a scene out of Legos inspired by the popular video game Minecraft. Each project will be judged and awarded a special certificate.

Other Lego Lab sessions will be held on the fourth Tuesday in October and November.

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Trick or Treat at the Library

On Thursday, October 23, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., children can trick-or-treat throughout the library at various desks, and meet special guest Bluey. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Owls Around the World

At 6 p.m. on Monday, November 17, Raptor Hallow will present "Owls Around the World." The 45-minute program will feature up to three animal ambassadors from the Alliance sanctuary and will Introduce students to one of the greatest predators in the world. They will learn the natural history, anatomy, and adaptations of various owl species all over the world and how they survive in various ecosystems.

Space is limited and registration is required to attend.
