Eldon "Pete" Shoup was a local golf legend in Alliance. Married with one child and a second onthe way, he was murdered at the age of 25 while trying to save his father from being killed during a burglary gone horribly awry.

Writers' Alliance, a group for those who like to create with words and share their work with others, meets at Rodman Public Library every fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All writers are welcome to the group, which is facilitated by John Milan. On Saturday, Sept. 30, Rodman Public Library will screen Elemental, a 2023 animated adventure comedy that follows characters in a city where fire, water, land and air residents all live together.

The film is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 41 minutes.

The film is free to attend and freshly popped popcorn will be provided, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Registration is not required for the all-ages event, but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. between September 12 and November 14 , parents or caregivers and their children, ages 3 to 12, are invited to participate in an entertaining and educational evening in Rodman Main Children's Department as part of Family Fun Night. There will be stories before participants break into small groups to visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that will provide fun for all ages. No registration is required.
