Ohio Digital Library Announces Reduction in Holds Limit

Beginning Thursday, May 15, the Ohio Digital Library is decreasing the number of holds that cardholders can place on Libby from 30 holds per cardholder to 20 holds per cardholder.

These limits were increases in 2020 to help meet demand.  After five years of sustained demand, increasing digital material prices, and the possibility of library funding changes, the current holds limit is not sustainable.  Lowering the holds limit may also help to reduce wait times.

Patrons who have more than 20 holds after May 15 will not lose any of those existing holds, but they will not be able to place new ones until they have fewer than 20 holds.
