Holiday Traditions

Mon, 12/04/2017 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Allyson "Ally" Carlson, Education Assistant at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, will present "Holiday Traditions," on Monday, December 4, at 7 p.m., in Rodman Library Main Auditorium. This delightful, light-hearted holiday program takes you on an historical journey about some of our most cherished holiday traditions and symbols. It begins with a look at Hanukkah and the meaning behind Kwanzaa, then continues with the Christmas tree, mistletoe, holly, poinsettias, candy canes and Santa Claus. The program is fully illustrated with fun holiday images and aimed toward the adult audience.

Carlson grew up in Stow, Ohio, and graduated cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2011 with her bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education, concentrating in Language Arts and Social Studies. After subbing and teaching full time for several years, she got a part time job as a history docent at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. Ally will graduate in December with her Masters of Library and Information Science, concentrating in Museum Studies from Kent State University. She and her husband live in Jackson Township.

This presentation is free and open to the public. No registration is needed. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223. The program is sponsored by the Friends of Rodman Library.
