Rodman Public Library invites families to a night of strategy gaming from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. During the family strategy game nights, which will be held monthly, card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering will be played as well as a variety of board games.

January means it's time for teens to test out all of the Nerf gear they got for Christmas at Rodman Public Library. Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend the January Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts.

Get out your Nintendo Switch and visit Rodman Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 4, to play Animal Crossing. Patrons of all ages are invited to visit the Main Library anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. with their Switch and "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" game to visit other Animal Crossing islands, including a library-themed island hosted by Rodman Library staff. Visitors will also have the opportunity to create an Animal Crossing-themed craft.

The Haines House Underground Railroad Museum will present its special holiday program,        

Sara Bir, a chef, writer and editor with the recipe website Simply Recipes, will visit the Main Library Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.13 to demonstrate how to make some easy candies just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bir, who has authored three cookbooks, including Tasting Ohio, The Fruit Forager's Companion, and The Pocket Pawpaw Cookbook, will provide recipes and show how to make peanut butter buckeyes, Christmas cracker candy, and caramel corn.

Registration is required for Bir's holiday candy making program.
