Robin Yocum, a former journalist known for his fiction set in the Ohio River Valley, will appear at Rodman Public Library as part of the Fogle Author Series. Yocum, whose book "The Essay" was the 2014 One Book One Community selection, has two works of nonfiction and six works of fiction to his credit. His latest book, "The Sacrifice of Lester Yates," was published in 2021 and was a finalist for the Dashiell Hammett Award for outstanding crime writing.

Described as a seminal new waver, Chris Butler is a musician best known for a few hits from the 1980s, yet he is still writing and recording with many unique works to his credit. Butler, an Akron-area native who was the driving force behind the band The Waitresses that spawned the hits "I Know What Boys Like," "Christmas Wrappings" and the theme song to the TV show Square Pegs, will visit Rodman Public Library as a special guest of the Alliance Vinyl Club on Wednesday, November 16.

Sarah Miller, a prolific writer with both fiction and non-fiction to her credit, will visit Rodman Public Library as part of the Fogle Author Series to discuss her work, which includes eight books with two titles coming out this fall. Miller, has made a career of giving technicolor voice to peripheral women of classic literature, beginning with her portrayal of Little House on the Prairie's Caroline "Ma" Ingalls in Caroline: Little House, Revisited.

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend a special Zombie Nerf Night from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13. Teens should assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:00 p.m. for the after-hours event to get "zombified." Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. The library will also provide Nerf darts. Space is limited and registration is required at rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup.
