Girl's Book Club

Girls, ages 9-11, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the new “Just for Girls” Book Club being offered. Meetings will be held the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m., October 2012 through April 2013 (except the November book club will be held on Nov. 28 and no book club in December). Meetings will include book discussion, games and other activities. Children must be able to read on a 4/5 grade reading level.

Children's Christmas Program

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Jingle Bell Christmas Program on Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m. One of Santa’s favorite elves, Ellie Elf, arrives straight from the North Pole to spread Christmas cheer and makes sure everyone is nice and not naughty. Ellie Elf will entertain with stories, music and magical fun for all!

Patrons ages 2 & 3 years old are invited to Lapsit Monday evenings, Sept. 10, 17 and 24, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Topics will include: Back to School, School Bus, Color Craze and Juicy Apples.

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on Saturday, May 18. Therapy dogs such as “Bear”, the cute five-pound bundle of Chihuahua joy owned by Ruth DeFranco, will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.

Magic Tree House Program

Children, ages 8-12, are invited to Rodman Public Library to join us in celebrating 20 years of adventure with the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. The program will be held on Saturday, November 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room.

Storytime PM

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will host Storytime for 4-6 year olds in August. Patrons may attend Storytime on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:15 p.m. or Thursday mornings from 10:30 -11:15 a.m. Topics will include: Days of Dinosaurs, Fabulous Frogs and Just Plain Silly

The goal of Storytime is to encourage life-long readers through stories, music, movement and activities. Pre-registration is not required. There will be no Storytime August 14 or 16 due to the Friends of the Library annual book sale. For more information, call the library at 330-821-2665.

SPARK (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids) meeting.

SPARK SUPPORTING PARTNERSHIPS TO ASSURE READY KIDS™ is a family-focused intervention program that prepares children for kindergarten. Although the initial investment in SPARK was made by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in partnership with the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton, multiple funders now support SPARK sites in six Ohio counties.
