Children's Program Room

Wee Read, a program offered by Rodman Library’s Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings, July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings, July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, from 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Children ages five and up, along with grownups, are invited to join the Rodman Library Children’s staff for Brown Bag Lunches on Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27, July 11 and 25, and August 1, from noon until 1 pm.

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs such as “Bear”, the cute five-pound bundle of Chihuahua joy owned by Ruth DeFranco. Dogs will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.

Participate in a “Summer Art Experience” at Rodman Public Library. Children, ages 5-13, will work with local art instructors for three sessions of free art classes on Mondays or Tuesdays beginning June 17, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. for ages 5-8, and 2:30-4:00 p.m. for ages 9-13. At the end of the program, children will receive a certificate of completion and art materials to take home.
