Adults, do you enjoy playing video games? Eager to try out the Xbox 360 with Kinect, Nintendo Wii, WiiU and Playstation 3? Want to show your skills at sports, dancing and other games?
On Tuesday, February 26, at 5:30 p.m., adults are invited to Rodman Public Library to play Xbox 360 with Kinect. Visitors will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from “E” for Everyone, up to “M” for Mature, will be offered. Also available to play will be the following board/card games: Scrabble, Yatzee, Uno and Apples-to-Apples.
SARTA will present a Travel Training Session at Rodman Main Library on Tuesday, December 11, from 11 a.m. to noon. Whether you're concerned with easing the strain on our environment or the strain on your wallet, Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) is something to consider.
SARTA's Travel Trainers will talk about our public transportation system, how to use it and how to plan trips. A 31-day bus pass is available the first time you attend a Travel Training Session. A picture ID must be presented to receive a pass.
Are you a book lover? Are you interested in meeting other book lovers to comparenotes and have a lively discussion? If so, join us at the evening book discussion group Monday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. in Rodman Public Library’s Conference Room.
"The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society," by Mary Ann Shaffer is the book choice for discussion.
The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Lots of fun activities, games and stories will be set up throughout the Children’s Department and auditorium. Children will also collect treats to take home.
No reservations are required and the program is open to children ages 3-12 with an adult. Halloween costumes are optional but encouraged. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 224.
Rodman Public Library hosts a monthly support group for the caregivers of adults experiencing challenges such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The next meeting will be Thursday, July 31, from 2-4 p.m. Caregivers have the opportunity to share with each other the challenges they are meeting, plus ideas and any suggestions and information of assistance that may help others in the group.
Boys, ages 9-11, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the “Just for Boys” Book Club being offered. Meetings will be held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m., November 2012 through April 2013 (no book club in December). Children must be able to read on a 4/5 grade reading level.
The ‘KnitWits’ Knitting Circle of Rodman Public Library meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the main library. Meetings for this month will take place on July 14 and July 28. Knitters, and other needle workers, are invited to network and compare notes.
