Reference Center
The staff of the Reference and Information Center can provide quick, factual, and up-to- date information on many subjects, from local historical newspaper accounts to the latest stock quotes. We help provide access to many databases for online research, which include several full-text periodicals and newspapers.
Services include help in obtaining print materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, telephone books, city directories, legal and business forms and publications, federal, state, and city tax forms; help with genealogical research, microfilm readers and printer; access to local history resources stored in our "Alliance Room."
Our staff is also available to help locate library materials from our own collection or obtain them from the vast resources of Search Ohio.
New Databases Available
Ready, Set, Mango! Available languages include Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Italian, Russian and more.
Have you relied on Chilton's Automotive Repair Manuals in the past for auto and light truck repair and maintenance? Then Chilton Library, an online automotive reference database, is for you! At Chilton Library, patrons can find step-by-step repair procedures, photographs, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), and wiring diagrams. Many of the electronic pages even include short video clips to provide live visual maintenance and repair instruction.
Along with the Chilton Library database, the library is now offering access to a Small Engine Repair Reference Center. Here patrons will find information and diagnostics on how to repair small engines including snowmobiles, lawn mowers, ATVs, motorcycles, farm tractors and more.
Each of these databases is accessible by visiting www.rodmanlibrary.com and clicking on the "Search Databases" tab near the top of the page. A library card in good standing is needed to access these databases. If using the service from home, you will need to input their name and library card barcode number. If you do not already have a library card, visit the Circulation Desk at either the Main Library or the Carnation Mall Branch to obtain one for free. For more information, call the Reference Department at 330-821-2665, then click "5".
