Book jacket imageSUPERCAPITALISMSUPERCAPITALISM, by Robert B. Reich

This 200+ page book looks at the transformation of business and democracy. The book begins by delving into the 'not quite golden age' between 1945 and 1975 when America combined a productive economic system with a broadly responsive political system. The book further explains that since the 1970s there has been a change in democratic capitalism in America. During this time, capitalism triumphed. The economy was shifting; markets were more competitive. As it continues, the book focuses on the fact that Americans are losing confidence in democracy and so are people in other democracies. They think that our government is run by a few big shots who are simply looking out for their best interest. The closing of the book gives a citizen's guide to super-capitalism. Those interested in economics and in the issue of democracy and how it relates to the economy might wish to checkout this book.
