This Gale production gives a complete look into the world of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Until the late 20th century, it was thought that OCD was a rare disorder. It was at this time that it was found that OCD is in fact the most common mental disorder in the U.S. The second chapter focuses on diagnosing the disorder while the third chapter looks at problems associated with the disorder. These problems may include lost abilities, lost relationships, physical effects and psychological effects. The final chapters of the book delve into drug treatment plans, psychological treatment plans and searching for a cause. With bulleted lists and color photographs, this book is a must-read for anyone who has been touched by obsessive-compulsive disorder.
