New Reference Books

The Library’s Information and Reference Center has chosen to highlight the following new reference books to help patrons find answers to a variety of questions.

It’s not too soon to get ready for tax season! This 800+ page tax guide is filled with tables, schedules and checklists to help you file your taxes. There is a chapter devoted to individual tax payers and to partnerships, one for trusts and estates, and one for income. There is information on exempt organizations, exclusions, business expenses, depreciation and credits. A detailed explanation of any problem that may arise when filing your taxes is given in this must-have book for anyone who has questions about finance and taxes. Also check out CCH’s book Top Federal Tax Issues for 2008 to see new requirements and issues for the upcoming tax season.

PETERSON’S SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR KIDS & TEENAGERS 2008

Winter weather got you down? It’s not too soon to plan for summer! This guide book gives summer program opportunities in the US and abroad, from summer camps to art programs, sports clinics to outdoor adventures. There are in-depth descriptions of each available program as well as indexes on sponsors, special needs and religious concerns. Each program is broken down into the location, background, offerings, schedule, cost and other important information. Contact information is also available for those who wish to enroll their children in a program.

As you plan your child’s summer, don’t forget about a vacation for yourself! This full color atlas has maps of each state in the US, as well as maps of Canada and Mexico. Each map has with it information on the land and economy, history, primary cities and state facts. The book includes full page, wide-view maps and smaller maps, with interstates and cities clearly marked. The index is easy to understand and leads readers to the exact page they are looking for. Anyone planning a trip should be sure to consult this atlas!
