New Children's Books

Check out these new books from the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library.

Book jacket imageBeing Teddy Roosevelt, by Claudia Mills

Claudia Mills never disappoints with her chapter books for third and fourth graders and this new title is no exception. When fourth grader, Riley, is assigned to read a biography about Teddy Roosevelt, he is less than enthusiastic. However, he finds inspiration in Roosevelt’s tenacity and perseverance and finds a way to get what he wants most—a saxophone and music lessons.

Book jacket imageThe Case of the Left-Handed Lady, by Nancy Springer

Fourteen-year-old Enola Holmes is on the lamb from her brother Sherlock because he thinks she belongs in a young ladies’ boarding school. She’s a young woman with pluck and numerous disguises which she puts to good use while trying to find Lady Cecily, the missing teenage daughter of Sir Eustance Austair. Readers, ages 11-14, will also enjoy the first book in this series, The Case of the Missing Marquess.

Book jacket imageThe Golden Rule, by Ilene Cooper

Grandpa explains that the golden rule is a simple statement on how to live that can be practiced by people of all ages and faiths, and then helps his grandson figure out how to apply the rule to his own life. Grandpa shares with his grandson that it may be a simple rule but it is not always easy to follow, but following it can make the world a better place. Gorgeous illustrations by Gabi Swiatowska add strength and beauty to Grandpa’s explanation. For ages 4-8.
