Computer and Internet Classes

As a continuing public service to the Alliance area, Rodman Public Library offers classes on the basics of computers and the Internet. These free classes are held in the Main Library.

Topics vary from session to session and details on upcoming classes can be found below. Class topics include how to find information on the Internet quickly and efficiently, Alliance information on the Web, how computers work, how to use a word processor and how to use Windows.

We are planning our fall classes over the summer. We will begin again in late August. Stay tuned for details!

All classes are free of charge and open to the general public. Class times are at 10:00 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

The Fourth Monday series of lecture-demonstrations is held in the main library’s auditorium and does not require registration. It is a series of general information programs on various computer-related topics.

For a complete schedule and class descriptions, go to www.rodmanlibrary.com or pick up a brochure from the Main Library or the Carnation Mall Branch.

Those attending may want to plan on spending some extra time after the classes to browse the Library's collection of materials on computers, the Internet and the WWW. Computers are also available in the Library for registered patrons to use free of charge.

Is your home computer safe from harm?

CERT, the computer security agency, has issued some helpful information specifically for home users. Everyone should be aware of the risks of viruses that can attack your computer via e-mail but did you know that if your computer is attached to the Internet via cable or DSL you should be more conscious of possible attacks against your computer?
