Gingerbread House Competition Rules and Regulations

2007 Contest Divisions

• Adult division: Individual adult, age 18 & up
• Teen Division: Individual teen, age 12-17

The Rodman Public Library Gingerbread House Committee will award:

• 1st place in each division
• The Viewer’s Choice Award: The Viewer’s Choice Award is awarded to one entry and will be selected by patron voting.

Rules (for all divisions):

1. Any architectural structure - real or imaginary is eligible for entry (i.e. house, train station, bridge, ship, lighthouse, spaceship).
2. Entry must be original - no gingerbread kits allowed.
3. All components must be edible. For example, foil or plastic wrapped candies must be unwrapped; contestants may not use lollipops with paper or plastic stems etc.
4. Electric lighting will NOT be permitted.
5. Entry must have been constructed in 2007.
6. Entries will be judged on originality, overall appearance, choice and use of materials and difficulty of design.
7. The entry must be delivered in completed form attached to a base enabling it to be freestanding. Bases shall be no bigger than 15” L x 12” W. Entries may not be taller than 14” H. Bases must be completely concealed with an edible product.
8. Participants must register for the competition by Monday, November 19, 2007. Entry forms may be obtained at Rodman Public Library, 215 E. Broadway St.; Rodman Public Library Branch located at Carnation Mall or from the Bookmobile.
9. All entries must be delivered to the main Library at 215 E. Broadway Street on Friday, November 30, 2007. Winners will be announced on December 17, 2007.
10. Entries must be picked up the week of January 7-12, 2008. Houses left after January 12 will be discarded.
11. The Library reserves the right not to display an entry, if the entry is not considered of show quality.
