In celebration of National Historic Preservation month, Martha McClaugherty will review the differences between the National Landmarks, listing on National Register of Historic Places and local designations, the work of the Alliance Historic Preservation Commission and the activities of the Alliance Area Preservation Society. The presentation will take place on Monday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m. in the Rodman Public Library Auditorium.
National Historic Preservation Month was designated with the hopes of encouraging people to see places of historical importance, the work involved to save them and recognizing their role in every community across the country. McClaugherty is the immediate past president of the Alliance Area Preservation Society and the chair of the Alliance Historic Preservation Commission. She has been an activist for local historic preservation activities and sustainable building practices.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Karen Perone, president of the Alliance Historical Society, at 330-821-2665, ext. 101.
