Rodman Public Library will host a Diabetes Management program to be held on Monday, January 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the main auditorium. Connie Altomare, MLIS, MA, RN, CDE, from Alliance Community Hospital will be presenting “Diabetes Management in the New Year: Tips for Better Control”.
Diabetes mellitus affects 25.8 million people in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control. It is estimated another 79 million people, age 20 and up, have prediabetes. Having gestational diabetes during pregnancy increases the chance of developing Type 2 diabetes by 35%-60% in 10-20 years. Research studies, preventative care practices and suggested strategies for implementing lifestyle changes will be covered in the program.
