The Mabel Hartzell Historical Home is a fully restored 1867 Italiante residence

The house was built in 1867 for Matthew Early, a well-known politician and
businessman, and his wife Mary Edwards Early. The museum is named for their
adopted daughter, Mabel.

Craig S. Bara, a native of Alliance, Ohio, has served as Curator of the Mabel
Hartzell Historical Home since 1987.

* Mabel Hartzell
-
Miss Mabel Hartzell (1875-1954) was a prominent educator in Alliance and
a Woman's Suffrage leader in Northeast Ohio. Her election to the Alliance
Board of Education in 1909 and her leadership in the community helped pave
the way for other women to become active participants in the community and
in city government.

Special events include a one-week open house during Carnation Days in August
and other open house weekends as scheduled throughout the year.

The Alliance Historical Society is governed by a Board of Trustees. Anyone
interested in the history of Alliance or the vicinity may become a member
of the Alliance Historical Society.
