The Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association (AARTA) began October 23, 1948 when an assembly of eleven retired teachers met at Mabel Hartzell's home to form this society.
The AARTA mission is to support legislation that will benefit educators and to provide volunteer service for community agencies.
This philosophy, imbued with the founding teachers' positive beliefs and futuristic attitudes remains a benchmark for the Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association.

The School Bell News is mailed semi-annually in March/April and August/September. Additional newsletters are distributed at the meetings.
MEETINGS
AARTA luncheon meetings are held six times a year in April, June, July, September, October, and December.

AARTA luncheon meetings are held six times a year. Currently, five meetings are scheduled for the Murphy Auditorium in the Copeland Oaks Retirement Community and the December meeting is scheduled for the Courtney Banquet Center in Alliance.
