AARTA HISTORY

The Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association (AARTA) began October 23, 1948 when an assembly of retired teachers met at Mabel Hartzell's home to form this society.

The mission was stated as being a "...purpose [for] working together in legislative and community areas and to share knowledge, talent and ideas."

This philosophy, imbued with the founding teachers' positive beliefs and futuristic attitudes remains a benchmark for the Alliance Area Retired Teachers Association.
