Here's What's Happening...

BROWN BAG LUNCHES FOR AGES 5 AND UP

Fridays - June 26 and July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31-Brown bag lunches from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Bring your own brown bag lunch and beverage. After lunch and stories, the children will enjoy making a craft item in the Children's Program Room. Be prepared to be outside for lunch. No registration required.


CREATE SAND CASTLES!

Monday, June 15 - 10:00 AM-4:00 PM--Join expert sand sculptor Laurie Tournoux as she creates a 3-ton sand sculpture masterpiece on our front lawn! Join her as she demonstrates and works with children one-on-one on how to sculpt your own special creations. Be sure to wear old clothing! Open to everyone. (Library front lawn)


CREATE AUTO RACING FUN!

Saturday, June 20 - Do you love automobile racing? Learn about Vintage Road Racing when Charlie Hall brings his 1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite to the library. From 2-2:45 for ages 11 and under and from 2:45-3:30 for ages 12 and up. Registration encouraged but not required. (Rain date: Saturday, August 22) (Outside parking lot)

CREATE PAPER!

Saturday, July 11 - 10:30-11:30 AM - 35-50% of our trash is paper! Recycle waste paper into "new" paper for drawing, writing, or an art project. For children ages 6-12. Advance registration is required. Limit of 25. Taught by a Naturalist from The Wilderness Center. (Children's Program Room)


BEING CREATIVE WITH JAZZ!

Saturday, July 18 - 10:00-11:00 AM - The entire family is invited to join us as the Alliance Symphony Jazz Combo introduces the world of Jazz. Learn about jazz instruments and how to create music. No registration required. (Auditorium)


CREATE YOUR OWN "FANCY NANCY" OUTFIT!

Monday, August 17 - 10:00-11:00 AM - For girls ages 4-10. You're invited to get fancy with Nancy and attend a fashion show-staring you (and Fancy Nancy, of course!) Dress in your fanciest dress-up clothes with tons of accessories and be ready to walk down the pink carpet. Hear some Fancy Nancy stories, craft some fancy accessories, and enjoy some fancy refreshments! Advance registration required. (Auditorium)


CREATE A THEATER EXPERIENCE!

Watch for date and time of a program we hope to create with the help of Michael Ritzert and the Carnation City Players Youth Theater.

Ages 0-5

LAPSIT PROGRAM FOR AGES 2 AND 3

Designed for child and an accompanying adult. Every Monday evening from 6:30-7:00 PM or Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:00 AM and 10:30-11:00 AM at the Main Library on Broadway Street. Experience age-appropriate books, music, and fingerplays. No registration required. (Children's Program Room)


STORYTIME FOR AGES 4, 5, AND 6

A forty-five minute storytime is offered on Tuesday evenings (6:30-7:15 P.M.) and Thursday mornings (10:00-10:45 A.M.). During June, Storytime is at the Branch Library. In July and August it is at the Main Library. Enjoy storybooks, songs, fingerplays, and occasional crafts and games. No registration required.

Ages 4-8

CREATE A MONSTER OF YOUR OWN!

Wednesday, August 19-2:00-3:00 PM For ages 4-8. Monsters are in the library! Little Critter, Cookie Monster, the Wild Things, and more! Join our Monster Masquerade Party and come dressed as your favorite friendly monster. Listen to monster tales, create a monster of your own, and enjoy a monstrous snack. Registration encouraged, but not required. (Children's Program Room)

CREATE MAGIC!

Monday, June 29 - 6:45-7:45 PM - Salvino Family Magic Show & Balloon Sculpture program for the entire family. Magic show from 6:45-7:15PM. Up to twenty children ages 9 and up can sign up in advance for a balloon sculpture class immediately after the magic show, from 7:15-7:45PM. (Auditorium)
