Save Ohio Libraries!

Thank You for Your Support!

June 26, 2009
Dear Friends of Rodman Library,

The communiqué below (Significant Progress) from Ms. Murray indicates that many patrons and friends of our public libraries have been successful in making their voices heard to the Governor and the General Assembly.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who responded with e-mails and calls to those in our executive and legislative branches of the state government. I received many encouraging phone calls and e-mails of support. Our local newspaper, The Alliance Review, gave great coverage to the dilemma the libraries face with the governor's proposed 50 percent cut in the Public Library Fund, our only source of income. Perhaps you are a Friend who didn't respond with calls or e-mails, but in your heart you know that the library has been a source of pride in this community and by your patronage have lent support to the cause.

My sincerest appreciation goes to all the Friends who truly love and support their library. Although we are in the midst of financial challenges, the staff and I take strength from your public efforts or private encouragement to demonstrate how important Rodman Public Library is to you and our community. For that, we are most grateful.

Sincerely, Pat Stone, Director

*Significant Progress Has Been Made*

The Save Ohio Libraries campaign has been a tremendous success as evidenced by the number of calls and e-mails sent to the Governor's office and the legislature, the media coverage of the support for public libraries, and the online activity of public library supporters. This success has come from the quality of the calls and e-mails to the Governor and the General Assembly from library patrons. Because of them, the library voice has been heard - loud and proud.

*Legislators are supporting public libraries.*

Many members of the General Assembly have issued statements in support of public libraries. And remember, the proposal to cut public library funding was never the idea of the General Assembly.

Director of Government and Legal Services
