Winter computer classes conclude in March
Rodman Library offers computer classes that will conclude in March. From computer basics to downloading your eBook, Rodman has something for all! Classes in March will be held Mar. 3, 4 and 5; Mar. 10 and 12 and then on Mar. 17. Hands-on classes are limited to nine (9) persons and a maximum of two (2) alternates. Classes are held in the computer classroom of the Main Library, 215 E. Broadway St. in Alliance. All classes start at 10:00 a.m. and last approximately one hour.
Windows Basics: Become familiar with Windows in this class as you learn about the common desktop elements such as what the Start Button can do, how to resize windows, and how to create a shortcut. Prior experience with using a mouse is preferred. Class date is Mon., Mar. 3
Internet Basics: Learn the basics of the Internet: terminology, navigation, browser options and some sites of interest. Prior experience with using a mouse is preferred. Class date is Tues., Mar. 4
Intro to Windows 8: Uncover the basics to get you up and running on your new Windows 8 PC. We will demonstrate how to navigate through this new interface to find many of the common desktop components with which you might be familiar, and show you how to customize this new app based system to fit your interests - plus a whole lot more! This class is demonstration only. Class date is Wed., Mar. 5
Email Basics: The basics of reading and sending emails as well as how to attach and open attached files will be explained using a free email account from Gmail. This class is especially suited to those who do not currently have an email account and are interested in creating one. Attendance at Internet Basics or prior experience with using the Internet is preferred. Class date is Mon., Mar. 10
Word Basics & Editing: Become familiar with Word through an overview of this program and its functions. Learn the basics of word processing, how to copy and paste, cut and paste, insert date, time and page numbers, plus how to format a document and use templates. Attendance at Windows Basics or prior experience with Windows is preferred. Class date is Wed., Mar. 12
Electronic Borrowing: Follow along as a library staff member walks you through the electronic borrowing search and download process. Borrowing eBooks through Overdrive or the new Axis 360 collection and magazines using Zinio, plus getting started with hoopla digital will be demonstrated. Be sure to bring your library card and eReader with you. Patrons with Kindle devices should bring their Amazon sign-in ID and password. Class date is Mon., Mar. 17
