Forrest Barber will present a program on “Taylorcraft, the War Years”, on Monday, September 9, at 7:00 p.m., in Rodman Public Library’s main auditorium. It chronicles the story of the Taylorcraft Aviation Company in Alliance from 1936 through 1947. The Al Barber family is featured in the program as Barber explains how Al came from the coal mines of Pennsylvania, moved to Cleveland, then finally to Alliance to become a test pilot for C.G. Taylor from 1940 through 1947.

Barber will also share the story of the "Glomb" that was built at the Taylorcraft factory north of Alliance and could carry the atom bomb. Many families still associate themselves with Taylorcraft as it was the largest employer Alliance had with over 2800 on the payroll. This year celebrated the 45th reunion of Taylorcraft employees with a Fly-in at Barber Airport.

The program is sponsored by the Alliance Historical Society. Photographs from Rodman Public Library's Taylorcraft collection will be on display. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is needed. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext.101. Taylorcraft's history in Alliance
