Fall computer classes continue in October
Rodman Library continues its computer classes which will run through November. Classes in October will be held Oct. 13, 15 & 16, then again on Oct. 20, 21, 22 and 27. Hands-on classes are limited to nine (9) persons and a maximum of two (2) alternates. All classes start at 10 a.m., except evening classes where noted at 6:30 p.m., and last about one hour. Registration is required and accepted by telephone or in person beginning the Monday of the week prior to the class. Call 330-821-2665 to register.
Internet Safety: Being safe online is important and very easy. This class will teach you some simple steps to ensure your online safety. Class date is Monday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m.
Intro to Windows 8 Basics: Are you struggling to find where things are on the new Windows 8 interface? This class will be covering the basics to get you up and running on your new Windows 8 PC. We will demonstrate how to navigate through this new interface to find many of the common desktop components you have used. This class is demonstration only. Class date is Wednesday, Oct. 15
Surfing the Net Basics: Learn the basics of the Internet: terminology, navigation, browser options and some sites of interest. Prior experience with using a mouse is preferred. Class date is Thursday, Oct. 16
Tech Tutoring: Have a technology question you’ve been meaning to ask someone? Having problems downloading an app? Bring your device or tech questions to the main lobby between 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please be sure that your device is charged and that you know your password. A technology tutor will be available to answer your questions on Oct. 18.
Kindle Fire: Borrowing eBooks through OverDrive or the Axis 360 collection, magazines using Zinio, and audiobooks through hoopla digital will be demonstrated. Borrowing through Overdrive with older Kindle models will also be discussed. Class date is Monday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Social Media-Intro to Facebook and Twitter: Facebook gives you the opportunity to connect with your friends and family online. Learn how to post a status, share a photo, and many other basic features. In this class you will also learn how to tweet, tag, and message others using Twitter. An active account for Facebook and Twitter is required to participate in this class. If you need assistance setting up an account, please see a Reference Librarian. Attendance at Surfing the Net or prior experience with using the Internet is preferred. Class date is Tuesday, Oct. 21
Windows Basic: Become familiar with Windows in this class as you learn the basics about the common desktop elements such as what the Start Button can do, how to resize windows, and how to create a shortcut. Prior experience with using a mouse is preferred. Class date is Wednesday, Oct. 22

Attendance at Surfing the Net or prior experience with using the Internet is preferred. Class date is Monday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m.
