Alliance City Band/Mu Phi Epsilon
Former Alliance City Band member and historian, Paul Hobe, returns to Rodman Public Library to present a program on the history of the Alliance City Band on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Hobe was involved with the Alliance City Band from 1961 to 1992, when the group signed off properties to the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Foundation.
The program will trace the band and individuals from 1859-1992, and will answer three questions including: 1. Did the band play for Lincoln when he came through Alliance? 2. When did the band start? 3. Why did the band change names at the turn of the century? Hobe will also discuss a connection between the city band and the anti-slavery movement. Photographs and items from the band will be on display. The program is sponsored by Mu Phi Epsilon Alliance Alumni. No registration is required and is open to the public. For more information call the library at 330-821-2665, ext. 101.
