"Mad Science" at the Library

Children are invited to join "Mr. James" as he dazzles his audience, creating cool and colorful experiments using common household items. Children can then recreate the experiments themselves. This event will be held in Rodman Main Auditorium on Saturday, Mar. 19, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., for ages 5 to 8 years, and will be repeated from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for ages 9 to 12 years. Sessions will be limited to groups of 15, so sign up early by stopping at the Main Children's Desk or calling the Main Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

"Snowed In" at the Library

Enjoy winter without the cold! Rodman Library will host “Snowed In… at the Library”, on Monday, February 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. for children, ages 6-10, in the main auditorium. Listen to winter stories while drinking hot chocolate. Create a decorative snow shield to use during an indoor “snowball” fight using soft, stuffed snowballs. Attendees can also practice their throwing skills by hitting snow targets.

Lego Splash!

Children can use their imagination and build with Legos at Rodman Public Library when the Children’s Department hosts Lego Splash! The program takes place on the second Saturday of the month from  2:00-3:00 p.m., in the Children’s Program Room. We provide the Lego and Duplo bricks, you provide the creations!  The program is open to children of all ages. No registration is required. Children's Drive-in Movie

Children of all ages are invited to an animated Drive-in Movie on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 10:00-11:30 a.m., in Rodman Auditorium. Laugh with Dracula and his monster friends at his high-end resort as he tries to protect his daughter from a human boyfriend. You may bring your own blanket or previously made cardboard box car. Children of all ages are invited—under10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is needed. Rated PG. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223, for more information.

Tales for Tails

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on the third Saturday of the month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. These specially trained dogs will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.

Wee Read at the Main and Branch Libraries

Wee Read, a program offered through the Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 at the main library,  and on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the main and branch libraries. Sessions last 20-30 minutes. No registration is required. Come as often as you like. For more information, call the main Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext.
