Make-A-Car for the Drive-In Movie

Children of all ages are invited to make and decorate their own cardboard box car on Tuesday, July 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the main library Children’s Program Room. Participants may then use their car to “drive” to a Friday morning Drive-in Movie on July 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or July 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The movie shown on July 10 is about a family of former crime-fighting superheroes, living quietly in the suburbs, who are required to rescue the world from destruction.

Friday Morning Drive-In Movie

Children of all ages are invited to a Drive-In movie on Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the main auditorium. Participants may use their cardboard car they made to “drive” to the movie or may bring a blanket to sit on. The movie being shown is about a dog that stars in an action show and believes his superpowers are real. Registration is needed. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Stop at the Children’s Department or call 330-821-2665, ext. 223. The movie is rated PG.


Friday Morning Drive-In Movie

Watch a former crime-fighting couple and their children go out on a super top secret assignment to rescue the world from total destruction.  Enjoy an old-fashioned "Drive-In" experience. Visit the concession stand. Bring your own "car" or blanket. Get your movie ticket in advance at the Main Children's Department Desk. Rated PG (jm)

Wee Read at the Main Library

Wee Read, a program offered through the Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings, Aug. 3, 17, 24 and 31, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the main library, Aug. 19 and 26, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Due to the Used Book Sale, there will be no Wee Read at the main library on Monday, Aug. 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 5 and 12.

Toucan Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Toucan Story Hour on Wednesday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the Branch Library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to make a small toucan figurine. A $10.00 fee will be collected for supplies on the day of the program that will be payable to Hot Pots. Snacks will be offered. Registration is required for this event and can be made by stopping in at the Branch or calling 330-821-1313.


Superhero "Minute-to-Win-It"

Based on the popular TV Show, children from ages 5-12 can sign up to do a superhero challenge within a minute. Registration is required for the 1 to 2 p.m. session or the 3 to 4 p.m. session, both on Saturday, Aug. 29. Rodman Library Branch will host Storytime for 3-5 year olds. Patrons may attend on Tuesdays, Aug. 4, 11, 18 & 25, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. and Thursdays, Aug. 6, 13, 20 & 27, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Storytime will resume at the main library on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 6:30-7:15 p.m., and Thursday, Aug. 27, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Rodman Branch is located at 1808 West State St. in the Marketplace Plaza. The goal of Storytime is to encourage life-long readers through stories, music, movement and activities. Pre-registration is not required.
