Lynnette Reiner, Science Director at the Wm. McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, will give a program on dinosaurs on Wednesday, June 19, from 2-3 p.m., in Rodman Library Children’s Program Room for children, ages 7-12. Using a PowerPoint presentation, she will examine the dinosaurs that once lived in America. Children will see sample footprints made from paper and rugs that show the size of the dinosaur feet, be able look at books on dinosaurs and extinction, learn about archaeological sites of interest and the new technologies and theories of these great beasts.

Join the Children's Department staff as we celebrate Clifford the Big Red Dog's 50th birthday. This picture book classic was first written and published in 1963 by Norman Bridwell. There are now over 100 Clifford titles with 126 million books in print. Participants will have fun with stories, activities, crafts, food and prizes. Rockcitement continues on Friday, July 19, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., when the Wilderness Center staff returns to Rodman with a program for children, grades 2-6. Families will learn about rocks by investigating, on their own, the different stations on the rock tour. Younger children are welcome at this event, with adult assistance reading and following station directions. Participants should plan on 30-45 minutes to complete the tour.

Children, grades 3-8, are invited to join the Wilderness Center staff at Rodman Library on Wednesday, July 10, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., to learn about Ohio rocks. Participants will learn about Ohio rocks’ distinct properties, how they were formed, their uses and geologic time. A collection from the Ohio Division of Geological Survey will also be on display that features rocks from nearby states. Registration is required for this program with a limit of 30 children.
Wee Read, a program offered by Rodman Library’s Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings, July 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, from 10:30-11:00 a.m.
