Tales for Tails

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on Saturday, Nov. 21. These specially trained dogs will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.

Wee Read at Branch

Wee Read, a program offered through the Children's Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music.  Children ages birth through two years and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read on Monday evenings from 6:30-6:50 p.m. at the main library and Wednesday mornings from 10:30-10:50 a.m.

Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings at the main library, Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at the main and branch libraries, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Sessions last 20-30 minutes. No registration is required. Come as often as you like.

Children's Christmas Party

Celebrate the season with stories from around the world as Lindsay Bonilla from “World of Difference” reaches into her storytelling bag and pulls out the perfect story gifts for the audience on Saturday, December 5, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. in Rodman Auditorium. Discover the beauty of giving in the story “The Rabbit’s Gift” (China), and meet some mischievous trolls in “The Very Big Christmas Kitty” (Norway)—two interactive family-oriented stories designed to bring out the child in all of us. With high entertainment value and high energy, Bonilla will delight the whole family.

Just for Girls Book Club

Boys, ages 8-11, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Boys’ Book Club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is September 9, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for the month is A Single Shard, by Linda Park. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions.
