Tales for Tails

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on the third Saturday of the month from 2:00-4:00 p.m. These specially trained dogs will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.

Jellyfish Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Jellyfish Storytime on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the Branch Library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a jellyfish figurine. A $10.00 fee will be collected for supplies on the day of the program that will be payable to Hot Pots. Snacks will be offered. Registration is required for this event and can be made by stopping in at the Branch or calling 330-821-1313.

Alliance Scavenger Hunt-Children's Edition

The Children’s Department of Rodman Library will tackle a Historic Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, August 13, at 9:30 a.m., at Freedom Plaza as part of their summer reading program “On Your Mark, Get Set… Read”. Attendees are asked to gather at Freedom Plaza on Main Street in downtown Alliance to begin the search for items and information such as what three flags are flying over the plaza and which U.S. president is standing in the plaza?

Alliance Historical Society Walking Tour of Downtown

The Alliance Historical Society will offer a fun, hands-on look at historical downtown Alliance. They are teaming up with the Alliance Farmers’ Market on Saturday, August 6, in hosting a community table from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop by the table at the Market and renew your Historical Society membership, purchase one of their award-winning books, or just say hello.

Shakespeare at the Castle

Join us at Rodman Main Auditorium on Saturday, July 23, from 1:00-1:45 p.m., for a preview of scenes from "Romeo and Juliet", by William Shakespeare. A brief discussion of the production will be offered, then, short selections from the play, set in the 1930s, will be performed by professional and amateur actors from Shakespeare at the Castle in association with the University of Mount Union.
