Children's Halloween Party

Halloween partyThe Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. This event will include Halloween games, stories, riddles, music, dancing, treats... and more. Be sure to bring your camera to take a picture of your little ones in front of our harvest fest backdrop.

Science in Action with Mr. James

Children ages 8 years and up are invited to join "Mr. James" as he dazzles his audience creating cool and colorful experiments using common household items. They can then recreate the experiments themselves. Prepare to be "slimed" or harness the power of "twister in a bottle" - just to mention a few possibilities.  Weather permitting, some larger experiments will be attempted outside. This program will be held in the Main Library Auditorium from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Pumpkin Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Pumpkin Story Hour on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to create a ceramic pumpkin bank. A $10.00 fee will be collected for supplies on the day of the program that will be payable to Hot Pots. Snacks will be offered. Registration is required for this event and can be made by stopping in at the Branch or calling 330-821-1313.

Spanish Storytime

Children, ages 5-11, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for Spanish Storytime on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m. with Dr. Angela Zumbar, who will be leading this story hour. Children and their accompanying adult will enjoy hearing stories, making crafts, and playing games all in Spanish. This program is open to Spanish speakers and those who are interested in the Spanish language. No registration is needed. For more information, call the Branch at 330-821-1313.

Book Discussion: R.J. Palacio's "Wonder" (Grades 5-8)

All students in grades 5-8 are invited to join the Children’s Department staff at Rodman Library on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 4:15 to 5 p.m. We will be exploring and discussing the book Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. Copies are available for checkout at the main library’s Children’s Desk in advance of the program.

This program is free and open to students in grades 5-8 and is presented as part of the One Book, One Community Stark County. Advanced registration is requested. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Just for Girls Book Club

"Just for Girls" Book Club (for girls ages 8-11) meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m.from October 2014 through April 2015  in the Children's Program Room.  (The October date will be on the 4th Wed. of the month-October 22nd. There will be no book club in December.)  The program includes book discussions...games...and activities.
