As part of our Fogle Author Series funded by the Greater Alliance Foundation, Rodman Public Library is proud to present Professor Richard Gilbert, author of the memoir, Shepherd: a memoir.
Wee Read, a program offered through the Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings at the main library, November 3, 10, 17 and 24, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at the main and branch libraries, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Sessions last 20-30 minutes. No registration is required. Come as often as you like.
The Alliance Historical Society will present a program in the auditorium of Rodman Library on April 27 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be W. John Gross, a retired FBI agent and retired Safety Service Director for the City of Alliance. He will talk about his experiences working with the FBI. The Alliance Historical Society will offer a program in RPL’s main auditorium on Monday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m., on The History of Glamorgan Castle. Maryjo Hepler will speak about the history of Glamorgan Castle and show slides from the building of the castle, and the Morgan family. She will also discuss preservation efforts by the Castle Crusaders. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is needed. The 2014 Fogle Author Series presents its second author, Thrity Umrigar, who will speak on the rescheduled date of Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2:00 p.m., in Rodman Main Auditorium. “Umrigar is an Indian American journalist, critic, and a bestselling author of the novels Bombay Time, The Space Between Us, "First Darling of the Morning", "If Today Be Sweet", The Weight of Heaven, and "The World We Found", whose books have been translated into over fifteen languages including French, German, Arabic, Dutch and Indonesian.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m., through April 2015. The next meeting is April 15, 2015, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for April is The Doll People by Ann M. Martin Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions.
