Rodman Public Library hosts a monthly support group for the caregivers of adults experiencing challenges such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The next meeting will be Thursday, November 21, from 2-4 p.m. Caregivers have the opportunity to share with each other the challenges they are meeting, plus ideas and any suggestions and information of assistance that may help others in the group.

Do you like things a little out of the ordinary to cook – or eat? Are you in sticker shock regarding the price of groceries or the charge for “ramps” or “fiddleheads”? Can you even find them in your supermarket? Do you know what they are? It won’t matter if you can’t find them in your supermarket, because you can find them yourself if you know where to look. The subject is wild food and there’s plenty available. In fact, most are considered weeds.
Boys, ages 9-11, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the “Just for Boys” Book Club being offered. Meetings will be held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m., November 2012 through April 2013 (no book club in December). Children must be able to read on a 4/5 grade reading level.
The ‘KnitWits’ Knitting Circle of Rodman Public Library meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Main Library. Meetings for this month will take place on November 11 and November 25. Knitters, and other needle workers, are invited to network and compare notes.
Note that the Knitwits will meet on December 9 at Panera Bread.
Rodman Public Library will once again offer children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs on Tuesday, August 21.
Therapy dogs such as “Bear”, the cute five-pound bundle of Chihuahua joy owned by Ruth DeFranco, will “listen” to stories in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library.
DeFranco is a therapy dog evaluator with Therapy Dogs International. All dogs that will be in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the “Paws and Reflect” Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital.
