Experience the entertaining and inspiring story of a real adventure on Monday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m., as Bob (Buckeye Flash) Grau presents his hike on the Appalachian Trail. Grau was retired with no hiking experience or gear when he decided to thru-hike the trail from Georgia to Maine. His journey through 14 states, covering nearly 2,200-miles, was completed in 170 days with the last 380 miles on a broken ankle.
Children of all ages are invited to make and decorate their own cardboard box car on Tuesday, July 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the main library Children’s Program Room. Participants may then use their car to “drive” to a Friday morning Drive-in Movie on July 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or July 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The movie shown on July 10 is about a family of former crime-fighting superheroes, living quietly in the suburbs, who are required to rescue the world from destruction.
Children of all ages are invited to a Drive-In movie on Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the main auditorium. Participants may use their cardboard car they made to “drive” to the movie or may bring a blanket to sit on. The movie being shown is about a dog that stars in an action show and believes his superpowers are real. Registration is needed. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Watch a former crime-fighting couple and their children go out on a super top secret assignment to rescue the world from total destruction. Enjoy an old-fashioned "Drive-In" experience. Wee Read, a program offered through the Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings, Aug. 3, 17, 24 and 31, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the main library, Aug. 19 and 26, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Due to the Used Book Sale, there will be no Wee Read at the main library on Monday, Aug. 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 5 and 12.
