Clifford the Big Red Dog Celebration

Join the Children's Department staff as we celebrate Clifford the Big Red Dog's 50th birthday. This picture book classic was first written and published in 1963 by Norman Bridwell. There are now over 100 Clifford titles with 126 million books in print. Participants will have fun with stories, activities, crafts, food and prizes. Bring your camera - Clifford will make a grand appearance! This second session is for younger children ages 3-7. Limit of 30. Registration is required. Ghosts by the Tale

Largely Literary Theater Company co-founders Sara Showman and Mark Dawidziak will present a spirited program of ghost stories at the Rodman Public Library main auditorium on Tuesday, Oct 22, at 6:30 p.m. The two-part Ghosts By the Tale presentation opens with Showman telling a romantic ghost tale and a not-so-romantic ghost tale – two looks at relationships from a supernatural point of view. Dawidziak, the company’s artistic director, then will shift the spooky mood a bit with personal stories about spirits connected to Akron-area locations.

Non-profit workshop with SCORE

The Canton Regional Chapter of SCORE and Stark Community Foundation are partnering to offer a workshop for Alliance area non-profit groups, both startups and existing organizations. The workshop will be held Tuesday, May 14, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Rodman Public Library in Alliance at 215 East Broadway. The workshop's purpose is to help non-profits create and sustain success in a difficult economic environment. Attendance will be limited to the first 30 registrants. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings, August 5, 19, and 26, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings, August 7, 21 and 28, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. There will be no Wee Read on Monday, August 12, and Wednesday, August14, due to the Friends of Rodman Library used book sale.

When dinosaurs ruled America

Lynnette Reiner, Science Director at the Wm. McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, will give a program on dinosaurs on Wednesday, June 19, from 2-3 p.m., in Rodman Library Children’s Program Room for children, ages 7-12. Using a PowerPoint presentation, she will examine the dinosaurs that once lived in America. Children will see sample footprints made from paper and rugs that show the size of the dinosaur feet, be able look at books on dinosaurs and extinction, learn about archaeological sites of interest and the new technologies and theories of these great beasts.

Bigfoot

Marc DeWerth of Columbia Station, Ohio, has been a longtime Bigfoot investigator with close to 20 years of experience. He’s investigated over 150 reports from all over Ohio and is fully convinced that Bigfoot resides in the Buckeye state. On Saturday, July 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the main auditorium of Rodman Library, he will share information on the most recent sighting reports as well as show a video of a possible Sasquatch. This is a family friendly lecture, so children are welcome.
