United Way, an accredited I.R.S.-V.I.T.A. agency, will be at Rodman Library to prepare taxes for the community.

The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $50,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals.

The United Way of Greater Stark County can file your taxes for free. The VITA Program offers free tax assistance to people who make $65,000 or less and married filing jointly up to $95,000. IRS-certified volunteers provide free income tax return preparation with electronic filing and offers direct deposit for a speedy refund. The 2014 tax preparation schedule for the months March and April available at Rodman Library is as follows:

Plant Strong Diet

Heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease are some of the leading causes of death for men and women in the U.S.  Research has shown that a nutrient rich, plant-based diet can help prevent and even reverse disease.  Join us for a presentation that will explore the research that supports this nutritional lifestyle, as well as practical tips on how to adopt a plant-strong diet.
 

Spinners

A community spinning group meets at Rodman Public Library on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the main auditorium. The next meetings are scheduled for November 5 and November 19. On November 5 the spinning group will meet in the North Reading Area. Bring your fibers and wheel or spindle. Anyone who spins, or who wants to learn how, is invited to network and compare notes.

Alliance City Band/Mu Phi Epsilon

Former Alliance City Band member and historian, Paul Hobe, returns to Rodman Public Library to present a program on the history of the Alliance City Band on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Hobe was involved with the Alliance City Band from 1961 to 1992, when the group signed off properties to the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Foundation.

Children's Halloween Party

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Lots of fun stories, activities and games will be set up throughout the Children’s Department and auditorium. Children will also collect treats to take home.

No reservations are required and the program is open to children ages 3-12 with an adult. Halloween costumes are optional but encouraged. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Lego Splash!

Build with Legos at Rodman Public Library when the Children’s Department hosts Lego Splash!

 The program will take place from 2:00-3:30pm. The theme for the month is "In a Book".

We provide the Lego and Duplo bricks, you provide the creations! The program is open to all ages. No registration is required.
