Just for Boys' Book Club

Boys, ages 8-11, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Boys’ Book Club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m., through August 2015 (please note that in August the book club will be held on the third Wednesday due to the Used Book Sale). The next meeting is May 13, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for the month is Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level.

Rodman Public Library offers children the chance to try their reading skills on local therapy dogs. These specially trained dogs wil "listen" to stories in the Children's Program Room at the Main Library.

Food Allergies in Kids-Panel Discussion

Do you have children with food allergies, or want some information regarding this issue? Rodman Library will be hosting a panel on Wednesday, May 27, at 7 p.m., with a board certified doctor in allergy/immunology, an early learning school nurse and a mother of children with food allergies. Each speaker will talk about their experiences with food allergies in children, the causes, ways to draw awareness, and solutions. Once all panelists have finished speaking, the program will be open to questions from the audience.

Redtail returns with stories of "Africa"

Red Tail (Steve Rickard) will give a presentation on his experiences in Africa and on the Loitokitok Route as he climbed his way to the top of Kilimanjaro. The program will be held at Rodman Public Library on Monday, April 13, at 7:00 p.m., in the main auditorium. Many in the Alliance area are familiar with Red Tail through his previous engagements at Rodman. Red Tail is an Alliance native who always brings with him another fascinating tale. "Current Trends in Landscaping"

To celebrate National Landscape Architecture month, a representative from DeHoff’s will speak at Rodman Library about current trends in landscaping. They will cover topics that include outdoor rooms, sustainable trends in landscaping, living walls and roofs. The event will take place on April 20 at 7 p.m., in the Main Auditorium.
