Windows Basics

Become familiar with Windows in this class as you learn about the common desktop elements such as what the Start Button can do, how to resize windows, and how to create a shortcut.

Prior experience with using a mouse is preferred.

Follow along as a library staff member walks you through the electronic borrowing search and download process. Borrowing eBooks through Overdrive or the Axis 360 collection, magazines using Zinio, and movies through Hoopla will be demonstrated. Be sure to bring your library card and iPad with you. iPad users should know their Apple ID and password. Other useful apps and tips will also be discussed.

If you plan to follow along, please make sure your device is charged and you know your passwords.

Are you struggling to find where things are on the new Windows 8 interface? In Intro to Windows 8 we will be covering the basics to get you up and running on your new Windows 8 PC.  We will demonstrate how to navigate through this new interface to find many of the common desktop components you are used to on a Windows computer and show you how you can customize this new app. based system to fit your interests-- plus a whole lot more!

Email Basics

The basics of reading and sending emails as well as how to attach and open attached files will be explained using a free email account from Google. This class is especially suited to those who do not currently have an email account and are interested in creating one.

Attendance at Internet Basics or prior experience with using the Internet is preferred.
