Josh Bixler of Flite-Test and Jim Bixler will be presenting to teens a look at the future of aviation on Thursday, September 26, from 3:30-5:00 p.m., as they demonstrate a computer aided drone and miniature airplanes. They will also be discussing current and future careers in aviation, such as flying for utility companies in line inspection, flying for cities in traffic management and obtaining air quality samples, and flying for police surveillance.
All teens, ages 12-18, are invited to participate in a head-to-head, double elimination bowling tournament on Thursday, September 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Rodman main auditorium. The game used will be Wii Sports Resort with motion plus controllers. Each bowling match will consist of a standard ten frame game. Participant matchups will be randomized on the day of the game. Bowlers will receive no handicap. There will be no interference with a player about to bowl. Cheating will result in immediate disqualification. Doors open at 3:00 p.m., and the game starts at 3:15 p.m.
Former Alliance City Band member and historian, Paul Hobe, returns to Rodman Public Library to present a program on the history of the Alliance City Band on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Hobe was involved with the Alliance City Band from 1961 to 1992, when the group signed off properties to the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Foundation.

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Lots of fun stories, activities and games will be set up throughout the Children’s Department and auditorium. Children will also collect treats to take home.

Discussion of the characters and comparison of Anime versions vs. Manga versions will follow. Teens who attend will be able to decide what gets shown from month to month.

There is room for card players as well. Simply bring your most powerful card and duel it out with your friends. All of this is going on at Rodman Library. No reservations are needed.
