A knitting class for beginners hosted at Rodman Library starts Monday, May 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the main auditorium. Taught by Jane Graham, a member of the KnitWits Needlework Circle, the classes will continue on Mondays, May 11 and 18, and Tuesday, May 26. There will be no class on Monday, May 25, due to Memorial Day. Participants will learn how to knit a “potato chip” scarf. Any kind of yarn can be used to knit the scarf and chips, as they are called in patterns, but they are actually ruffles.
A crochet class for beginners hosted at Rodman Library starts Wednesday, April 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the main auditorium. Taught by Jane Graham, a member of the KnitWits Needlework Circle, the classes will meet Wednesdays, April 8,15, 22, and 29. Participants will learn how to crochet a dishcloth. Those attending will need to bring a size G or H crochet hook and one skein of Peaches and Cream Yarn in the color of their choice. Graham has been involved in needlework for over 70 years.
Alliance native chocolatier, Sharon Springer, will be showing teens, ages 12-18, how to make their own chocolate Easter candy treats. The program will take place on Thursday, Apr. 2, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Teens in attendance will get to make their own sweet creations. There will be two different candy stations where you can make chocolate peanut butter eggs or a spring chick pop. Teens can also participate by making a stitched greeting card craft.
