Children can use their imagination and build with Legos at Rodman Public Library when the Children’s Department hosts Lego Splash! The next summer Legos program takes place on Monday, Aug. 3, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the Children’s Program Room. We provide the Lego and Duplo bricks, you provide the creations! The program is open to children of all ages. No registration is required. For more information, or if you would like to donate Lego or Duplo bricks to the library for these programs, stop by or call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

William Powell and Clearview Golf Course

Renee Powell, LPGA member, Clearview's Head Golf Professional and teacher, and daughter of William “Bill” Powell, will talk about her father and his historic Clearview Golf Course in East Canton on Tuesday, July 28, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., in the Children’s Program Room. Bill Powell decided to build his own golf course—for people of all colors—after he experienced racial discrimination on the golf course upon his return home from the military in World War II.

Make-A-Car for the Drive-In Movie

Children of all ages are invited to make and decorate their own cardboard box car on Tuesday, July 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the main library Children’s Program Room. Participants may then use their car to “drive” to a Friday morning Drive-in Movie on July 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or July 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The movie shown on July 10 is about a family of former crime-fighting superheroes, living quietly in the suburbs, who are required to rescue the world from destruction.
