Wee Read at Main and Branch Libraries

Wee Read, a program offered through the Children’s Department, is designed to introduce children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Patrons, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to Wee Read, Monday evenings at the main library, November 3, 10, 17 and 24, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at the main and branch libraries, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Sessions last 20-30 minutes. No registration is required. Come as often as you like.

Are you struggling to find where things are on the new Windows 8 interface? In Intro to Windows 8 we will be covering the basics to get you up and running on your new Windows 8 PC.  We will demonstrate how to navigate through this new interface to find many of the common desktop components you are used to on a Windows computer and show you how you can customize this new app. based system to fit your interests-- plus a whole lot more!

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Cheerful Tree Storytime on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the Branch Library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to make a 6-1/2 in. ceramic Christmas tree figurine. A $10.00 fee will be collected for supplies on the day of the program that will be payable to Hot Pots. Snacks will be offered. Registration is required for this event and can be made by stopping in at the Branch or calling 330-821-1313.

Branch Book Club

The branch library is starting a monthly book club that will meet on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 29. Revolutionary Road, by Richard Yates, is the book selection for discussion, along with comparison to the movie of the same title. The book and DVD are available at both main and branch libraries. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is needed. For more information, call the branch library at 330-821-1313.

Create-a-Scarf

Joan Roberts will demonstrate to adults how to crochet a 
fashionable scarf they can make for themselves or for a holiday 
gift. The class will take place on Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m.
at Rodman Branch Library. A list of supplies needed to create 
the scarf will be available in advance of the program. 
Participants will create their own scarf during the class.
